Psalm 46

God Is Our Fortress

To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song.

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come, behold the works of the LORD,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah (ESV)

Psalm 11

The LORD Is in His Holy Temple

To the choirmaster. Of David.

In the LORD I take refuge;
how can you say to my soul,
“Flee like a bird to your mountain,
for behold, the wicked bend the bow;
they have fitted their arrow to the string
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;
if the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”

The LORD is in his holy temple;
the LORD’s throne is in heaven;
his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.
The LORD tests the righteous,
but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
Let him rain coals on the wicked;
fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
For the LORD is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face. (ESV)

Prayer of Confession

Holy and merciful God, in Your presence, we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against You. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we are ashamed and sorry for all we have done to displease You. Forgive our sins, and help us to live in Your light, and walk in Your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Benediction

Heavenly Father, you have heard our cry and our prayers. You have heard the prayers of your people for decades and you have acted to repeal Roe vs Wade. We are confident Lord that this will be a means by which you will preserve and protect the lives of millions of innocent children for the years to come. We are humbled by the truth that you knit people together in the womb and these children bear your image. Lord, we pray that you continue to prepare Coram Deo and the other churches in the county to be ready to love and care for expectant mothers and fathers who may be nervous or fearful at the news of their pregnancy. We understand that our state may become a safe haven for people who seek to end their pregnancy. We ask for your powerful hand to be at work with them to preserve life. We ask for your mighty hand to raise up the work of our local pregnancy resource services as they care for and minister to expectant families. We ask for you to be at work in the Foster Care system throughout our community, organizations like Olive Crest and Antioch Adoption which is now expanding into Kitsap. We pray for your hand of provision in calling christian families into foster care and adoption as a way to love and care for children and parents. Lord, we have been praying for this day and it is here. Use us as you work to preserve and protect life in our community. We praise you and pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
