Scripture

Matthew 23:23–24

[23] “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. [24] You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! (ESV)

Call to Worship

Psalm 59:16–17

[16] But I will sing of your strength;
I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.
For you have been to me a fortress
and a refuge in the day of my distress.
[17] O my Strength, I will sing praises to you,
for you, O God, are my fortress,
the God who shows me steadfast love. (ESV)

Prayer of Repentance

Gracious Lord, you alone are righteous and holy, and in your presence, no one can stand. Your gracious mercy is our only hope, so we ask for your forgiveness. We pray for your cleansing touch to wash away our corruption, to clothe us in righteousness, and to rework our lives anew. We ask these things in Jesus Christ's holy name, amen.

Benediction

May the LORD, who graciously gave Christ to us to pay our debt of sin, fill your heart with gratitude and the grace of generosity. May His Spirit free you from self-centeredness, fear, and restlessness and give you rest and joy as you give yourself to him and reflect his generosity may you always remember his love and grace and rejoice that Christ became poor for your sake so that you might become rich in him. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
