Christmas Day Prayer

Luke2:8-14

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them,"Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"

Christmas Morning Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

We thank you for another Christmas, a day to celebrate and remember.
Today, we marvel at the eternal plan of
salvation, crafted before creation.
We rejoice in the promise of a Messiah give
to our forefathers in the faith.
We praise the God who trains and corrects his
people through the law and the prophets.
We sing with joy to the Prince of Peace who got
off his throne to descend to earth.
Son of God,
You took on flesh to be born, grow, and fulfill the law.
Because of this, we have a High Priest who is able
to sympathize with our weaknesses.
May we follow in your footsteps,
loving the Father in daily obedience.
You went to the cross, bearing our burdens and
paying our immeasurable debts.
Because of this, our atonement was accomplished
and we received the righteousness of Christ.
May we endure all trials knowing that you met our
greatest need and secured our salvation.
You rose from the grave to reveal your victory and vindicate your name.
Because of this, your followers took the good news to the nations,
facing trials, torture, and death.
May we learn to trust in your resurrection power
that is now at work within your people.
You ascended in resurrected flesh to sit at the right hand of the Father.
Because of this, we now have an ever-present
mediator who ensures our redemption.
May we lift our eyes from these earthly tents
to hope in our heavenly dwelling.
Holy Spirit, we ask you to revive dead hearts to the glory of Christ.
Gracious Savior, we ask you to intercede
on behalf of your brothers and sisters.
Heavenly Father, we ask that you bring your
kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
In the name of the exalted Son,

Amen
