Scripture

John 3:16–21

[16] “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. [18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. [19] And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. [20] For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. [21] But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” (ESV)

Call to Worship

Psalm 54:1–2

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul, “Is not David hiding among us?”

[1] O God, save me by your name,
and vindicate me by your might.
[2] O God, hear my prayer;
give ear to the words of my mouth.

Psalm 54:6

[6] With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. (ESV)

Prayer of Repentance

Our great Father, we know that if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us; but you have said that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name’s sake! Amen.

Benediction

May the LORD,  who sent His Son as the true Light into a world of darkness, open your eyes to behold His glory full of grace and truth. May His Spirit shine into your heart, exposing every hidden sin and drawing you to Christ. May you come to the Light, loving it rather than hiding in darkness, and find life in His name. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
