Psalm 48

Zion, the City of Our God

A Song. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.

Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
has made himself known as a fortress.

For behold, the kings assembled;
they came on together.
As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic; they took to flight.
Trembling took hold of them there,
anguish as of a woman in labor.
By the east wind you shattered
the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the LORD of hosts,
in the city of our God,
which God will establish forever. Selah

We have thought on your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
As your name, O God,
so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Let Mount Zion be glad!
Let the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments!

Walk about Zion, go around her,
number her towers,
consider well her ramparts,
go through her citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
He will guide us forever. (ESV)

Psalm 13

How Long, O LORD?

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and answer me, O LORD my God;
light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
because he has dealt bountifully with me. (ESV)

Prayer of Confession

God of grace and truth, in Jesus Christ You came among us as light shining in darkness. We confess that we have not welcomed the light, or trusted good news to be good. We have closed our eyes to glory in our midst, expecting little and hoping for less. Forgive our doubt and renew our hope, so that we may receive the fullness of Your grace and live in the truth of Christ the Lord. Amen.

Benediction

Heavenly Father, You have shown your faithfulness to a thousand generations. As we consider Your mighty ways, Lord you have preserved and cared for Coram Deo from the beginning. May we consider your kindness that you brought upon your people when you have healed them from illness and disease. May we consider your kindness Lord when you handed us over this building for us to gather in 18 years ago, as we navigate the good things You have in store for us now. May we consider Your kindness in bringing salvation not just to individuals but entire families. Lord I am a recipient of that, first generation Christian and I praise You for saving my family and others at Coram Deo. May we consider Your kindness in all the children that you have brought into our church family, and may we consider all the good things You have prepared for them to walk in. May they be faithful pastors, deacons, leaders, laborers, teachers, professionals, husbands, fathers, wifes, mothers, brothers and sisters. May we be like Your servant Samuel and raise an Ebenezer in our mind and heart to remember your Mighty hand of help, provision, and presence with Your people. We praise Your Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
