Heavenly Father,
You are the Author of beauty and delight. You gave us eyes and ears capable of understanding melodies and visual masterpieces. You intertwined tastes, smells, and textures into gifts that tell stories of your loving creativity. We have joy because you spoke it into existence.
Today, the world is looking for ways to be thankful. But there is an overwhelming wave of news stories, family conflict, heavy expectations, and our own fears and failures.
Where can we find thankfulness that outshines the darkness, that lasts beyond today?
Only in our great Savior. In gratitude, we look back at the cross where we were given freedom from sin, righteousness that we did not earn, and the promise of eternal life. But even more, he gave us himself. We are united to him by grace. His love unchanging. His commitment eternal.
To the Father of joy, we sing praise. To the Son who loves us, we hold fast. To the Spirit that unites us, we give thanks.
Amen
